The Registered Association
The German association Ngakde e.V. was founded in 2003. In the following years the sangha grew mainly in Germany and Austria. Since a few years Ngakde also runs a branch office for long term retreats in Canada. In 2015 the association was able to purchase a property in the Bavarian Forest and transform it into a retreat center with the name Tharpaling (island of liberation). The center is located away from the village of Solla directly at the forest and can be reached via a small side road. Tharpaling has 50 beds in several single, double and shared rooms, one main kitchen, two kitchenettes and a garden with fireplaces for pujas. In the house there is a spacious main gompa with about 60 seats as well as two smaller side gompas and a torma kitchen.
Ngakde e.V. is registered as a non-profit organization in Passau, Germany under the registry number 20097 and is authorized to issue donation receipts.
